Lime squonk mod IQOS in New Zealand: the cheap shortlist
Lime in New Zealand: 18 units tested over 9 weeks, squonk mod formats, priced per 10 ml for New Zealand.
Coil life, liquid cost and the lime habit
The honest read on lime: 18 units through the same routine over 9 weeks, and the difference between a good batch and a bad one came down to batch age, not the sticker price.
We run lime the same way in New Zealand: same squonk mod, same 9 days, same coil resistance. The only variable was the coil, and that turned out to be the thing buyers get wrong.
If you only read one line: the squonk mod you buy decides how long lime tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a lime squonk mod really costs in New Zealand
Lime in New Zealand reaches the shelf in squonk mod formats, and the cheapest ones are rarely the ones that stay in stock. Availability, not taste, is what breaks an order.
How we tested lime in a squonk mod
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Pick the squonk mod that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Choose strength against the ceiling in New Zealand, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Spare parts availability for squonk mod in New Zealand, since tanks and pods go first.
- Stock depth: 18 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- The landed price per 10 ml after 4–8 business days, which is the only number worth comparing.
Where lime goes wrong
- Ignoring the batch date on a squonk mod and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
- Buying the cheapest squonk mod available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Mixing lime with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in New Zealand sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Wholesale lines to New Zealand need import documents the retail shop does not; ask for them in writing before a bulk order.

Frequently asked questions
What nicotine strength should lime start at?
Start at whatever New Zealand allows on the label. If you already smoke, drop one step; if not, half of it for a squonk mod.
Why does lime taste burnt?
Almost always the coil, not the liquid. On the squonk mod units we ran, a coil past 6 days turned the lime blend itself harsh.
Is buying in bulk actually cheaper?
Not automatically. On lime the budget price and the premium price can sit within NZ$2.57 per 10 ml once 4–8 business days is counted.
