Melon RDA IQOS in New Zealand: the flat shortlist
Melon in New Zealand: 17 units tested over 8 weeks, RDA formats, priced per 10 ml for New Zealand.
Coil life, liquid cost and the melon habit
Melon prices move with import duty more than with brand. In New Zealand that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within NZ$2.09 per 10 ml.
If you are looking at melon in New Zealand, the first question is not strength. It is whether the RDA you are quoting actually fits the device on your desk.
If you only read one line: the RDA you buy decides how long melon tastes right, and the coil inside it decides how long that is.
What a melon RDA really costs in New Zealand
A melon RDA from the flat-rate options in New Zealand costs about NZ$2.09 per 10 ml once delivery is counted. That number decides whether the habit survives the first month, not the sticker price.
How we tested melon in a RDA
- Pick the RDA that fits the device already on your desk, not the one on the headline page.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–8 business days.
- Stock depth: 17 lines held, so the shortlist does not turn into a special order.
- Coil type inside the RDA, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- The listed nicotine ceiling, which is the local legal limit in New Zealand, not a suggestion.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
Where melon goes wrong
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why melon tastes flat after two days.
- Buying the cheapest RDA available and repeating it because the first coil burnt.
- Ignoring the batch date on a RDA and discovering the listed price was for old stock.
The rules that apply here
Retail sales in New Zealand sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
Packaging for melon in New Zealand must be child-resistant, and the batch code has to be readable without cutting the shrink wrap.
