Melon squonk mod IQOS in New Zealand: the online shortlist
Melon in New Zealand: 22 units tested over 7 weeks, squonk mod formats, priced per 10 ml for New Zealand.
How to tell a good squonk mod from a repack
There is no single best way to buy IQOS in New Zealand. There is only the batch that arrived, the coil that came with it, and whether the shop tracks the production run.
Melon prices move with import duty more than with brand. In New Zealand that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within NZ$2.99 per 10 ml.
The short version: melon in New Zealand works if the squonk mod, the coil and the strength are chosen as one system. Everything below is what we measured while doing exactly that.
What a melon squonk mod really costs in New Zealand
Melon prices move with import duty more than with brand. In New Zealand that means the entry option and the premium option can close to within NZ$2.99 per 10 ml.
How we tested melon in a squonk mod
- Choose strength against the ceiling in New Zealand, which is the local legal limit for retail here.
- Settle the draw first: mouth-to-lung or direct-to-lung, because it decides the coil and the liquid.
- Order before 14:00 so the parcel leaves the same day and lands inside 4–8 business days.
- Clear PG/VG ratio on the label, which predicts throat hit more accurately than strength.
- Spare parts availability for squonk mod in New Zealand, since tanks and pods go first.
- Coil type inside the squonk mod, because mesh and wire age at different rates.
- Child-resistant cap and tamper band on every melon bottle shipped into New Zealand.
Where melon goes wrong
- Treating the advertised NZ$43 entry kit as the real cost when refills run NZ$2.99 per 10 ml.
- Mixing melon with a coil rated for a different wattage, which dulls the flavour and drains liquid faster.
- Matching strength to the device instead of the draw, which is why melon tastes flat after two days.
The rules that apply here
New Zealand sets its own nicotine rules by regulation, not EU TPD.
Retail sales in New Zealand sit under the same nicotine the label declares, which is the local legal limit. Anything above it is not sold through this channel.
